DWU announces winners from Fall 2024 Scholarship Day
DWU has announced fall scholarship winners from high school senior classes.
MITCHELL—Dakota Wesleyan University has announced fall scholarship winners from high school senior classes.
34 high school seniors competed in November for the university’s most prestigious scholarships as part of DWU’s Fall Scholarship Day on Nov. 22. Students with outstanding academic status, leadership potential and commitment to serving others were invited to campus to meet with faculty, staff and students, or virtually, while exploring opportunities at DWU.
The following is a list of Randall Scholarship and Presidential Leadership winners, DWU’s most competitive scholarships:
Randall Scholarship winners: To qualify for a Randall Scholarship, students must have at least a 3.7 GPA and must meet certain leadership/service qualifications. The scholarship is $25,000 per year.
- Hunter Dean, Mitchell, Ethan High School, son of Ray and Randa Dean. Also awarded a Dual Credit scholarship.
- Tayne Herrmann, Wolsey, James Valley Christian High School, son of Stan and Kim Herrmann. Also awarded a Dual Credit scholarship.
- Ayden Naslund, Cody, Neb., Cody-Kilgore High School, daughter of Adam and Janell Naslund
- Kylee Pulscher, Custer, Custer High School, daughter of Shannon and Jean Pulscher
- Maddie Steffen, Hartington, Neb., Hartington Newcastle High School, daughter of Brian and Rose Steffen
- Julianna Uphoff, Custer, Custer High School, daughter of Jeremy and Haley Uphoff
Presidential Leadership Scholarship winners: To qualify for a Presidential Leadership Scholarship, students must have at least a 3.25 GPA and must meet certain leadership/service qualifications. The scholarship is $21,000 per year.
- Bronson Freeseman, Gordon, Neb., Gordon-Rushville High School, son of John and Krystle Freeseman
Achievement Scholarship winners: To qualify for an Achievement Scholarship, students must have a 4.0 GPA. The award is for $16,000 and is renewable for up to 10 semesters if the student remains in good standing.
- Avery Backus, Sandy, Utah, Summit Academy High School, daughter of Bill and Brooke Backus
- Macaulley Coble, Brookings, Brookings High School, daughter of Amanda Neville and Murray Coble
- Landon Comon, Phoenix, Ariz., Madison Highland Prep High School, son of Tara Comon and Kevin Comon
- Kaysen Magee, Ft. Pierre, Stanley County High School, daughter of Kayla Magee and Bryce Magee. Also awarded a Dual Credit scholarship
- Isabella Woodley, Prosper, Texas, Founders Classical Academy of Frisco, daughter of Frank and Mary Woodley
John Wesley Scholarship winners: To qualify for a John Wesley Scholarship, students must have at least a 3.7 GPA. The award is for $13,000 to $14,750 and is renewable for up to 10 semesters if the student remains in good standing.

- Megan Johnes, San Antonio, Texas, Pieper High School, daughter of Christopher and Melissa Johnes

- Luke Koepsell, Howard, Howard High School, son of Nick and Tonya Koepsell. Also awarded a Dual Credit scholarship

Trustee Scholarship winners: To qualify for a Trustee Scholarship, students must have at least a 3.5 GPA. The award is for $12,000 to $13,750 and is renewable for up to 10 semesters if the student remains in good standing.

- Kinley Bruce, Hastings, Neb., Hastings High School, daughter of Terrell Bruce and Blake and Kylee Greisen
- Chett Jibben, Chancellor, Lennox High School, son of Lance and Angela Jibben
- Olivia Thompson, Huron, Huron High School, daughter of Michelle Hohn and Ray Polfus. Also awarded Impact and Dual Credit scholarships
