DWU Spring 2025 Concert to be held

DWU Music will perform a concert of vocal and instrumental music on Sunday, May 4, at the Sherman Center.

MITCHELL – The Ron and Sheilah Gates Department of Music at Dakota Wesleyan University will perform a concert of vocal and instrumental music on Sunday, May 4, at 4 p.m. at the Sherman Center on the DWU campus. The theme of this year’s concert is “May the 4th Be With You: Music from the Stars, Planets and Heavens.”

The afternoon’s concert will feature performances the DWU Community Choir, the Highlanders, the Wesleyan Bells, LyricWood Orchestra, the Wesleyan Band, and the Wesleyan Jazz Band.

The DWU Community Choir and the Highlanders will be conducted by Dr. Clinton Desmond. The Wesleyan Band and Wesleyan Jazz Band will be conducted by Jason T. Laczkoski. LyricWood will be directed by Elizabeth Soladay. The Wesleyan Bells will be conducted by Erin Desmond.

The event will be livestreamed at dwu.edu/live. The concert is free to all.

Immediately following the performance, the second annual Performing Arts Hall of Fame and Awards banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Pratt Alumni Board Room in the School of Business, Innovation and Leadership. Ken ’62 and Diane ’62 Ketel and Darryl Patten ’60 (posthumously) will be enshrined in the Hall of Fame, and several performing arts awards will be presented to students.
