Teaching and Learning Specialist

Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota, seeks an innovative and strategic leader to assume the role of Teaching and Learning Specialist. This is a 10-month position with faculty status and comprehensive benefits. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in advancing the educational mission of the institution by enhancing teaching practices and promoting information literacy through engaging workshops, seminars, and training sessions. This position involves collaboration with faculty, librarians, students, and campus partners to support instructional development and to improve student learning outcomes. The Teaching and Learning Specialist will develop and implement assessment strategies to evaluate the effectiveness of instructional programs and services, using data to inform and to improve teaching practices.

Preferred start day is August 19, 2024. Salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a minimum of a master’s degree in education, higher education, library science, or a related field.
  • Have a minimum of five years of demonstrated experience in teaching and learning.
  • Have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and campus partners.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of information literacy principles and practices.
  • Manage multiple projects and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with assessment tools and methodologies for evaluating instructional effectiveness.
  • Show a commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with trends in teaching and learning.
