DWU announces winners from Spring 2025 Scholarship Day

28 high school seniors competed for the university’s most prestigious scholarships on Feb. 21.

MITCHELL—Dakota Wesleyan University has announced spring scholarship winners from high school senior classes.

28 high school seniors competed for the university’s most prestigious scholarships as part of DWU’s Spring Scholarship Day on Feb. 21. Students with outstanding academic status, leadership potential and commitment to serving others were invited to campus to meet with faculty, staff and students, or virtually, while exploring opportunities at DWU.

The following is a list of Randall Scholarship and Presidential Leadership winners, DWU’s most competitive scholarships:

Randall Scholarship winners: To qualify for a Randall Scholarship, students must have at least a 3.7 GPA and must meet certain leadership/service qualifications. The scholarship is $25,000 per year.
Aurora Dreyer, Huron, Huron High School, daughter of Rachel Dreyer.
Cerys Gardner, Sugarland, Texas, Lamar Consolidated High School, daughter of Angie Siders.
Adriana Ratigan, Frankfort, Northwestern Area High School, daughter of Robert and Kelly Ratigan.

Presidential Leadership Scholarship winners: To qualify for a Presidential Leadership Scholarship, students must have at least a 3.25 GPA and must meet certain leadership/service qualifications. The scholarship is $21,000 per year.
Hudson Borgan, Mitchell, Mitchell High School, son of Jeremy and Kris Borgan.
Kellen Deur, Maple Grove, Minn., Heritage Christian Academy, son of Travis and Rachel Deur.
Alyssa Earhart, Jackson, Minn., Jackson County Central High School, daughter of Eric and Rachel Earhart.
Riley Jones, Dalton, Neb., Leyton High School, daughter of Charles and Marlene Jones.

Other scholarships awarded included:

Achievement Scholarship winners: To qualify for an Achievement Scholarship, students must have a 4.0 GPA. The award is for $16,000 and is renewable for up to 10 semesters if the student remains in good standing.
MaKaylan Bonenberger, Belvidere, Kadoka Area High School, daughter of Brett and Nikki Bonenberger. Also awarded a Dual Credit scholarship.
Abby Determan, Sioux Falls, Harrisburg High School, daughter of Scott and Sue Determan.
Kenna Dickson, Cavour, Huron High School, daughter of Ken and Kerry Dickson. Also awarded a Dual Credit scholarship.
Kylie Haiar, Fulton, Hanson High School, daughter of Brad and Lisa Haiar. Also awarded an Impact scholarship, an Alumni scholarship and a Dual Credit scholarship.

John Wesley Scholarship winners: To qualify for a John Wesley Scholarship, students must have at least a 3.7 GPA. The award is for $13,000 to $14,750 and is renewable for up to 10 semesters if the student remains in good standing.
Isabel Brigham, Cascade Loks, Ore., Stevenson High School, daughter of Terrie Brigham and Lindsey Watchman. Also awarded an extracurricular scholarship.
Hunter Erickson, Aberdeen, Aberdeen Central High School, son of Ryan and Amy Erickson. Also awarded an extracurricular scholarship and a Dual Credit scholarship.
Chloe McEachern, Arizona City, Ariz., Vista Grande High School, daughter of Derek and Danae McEachern. Also awarded an extracurricular scholarship and an Esports scholarship.
Treyton Roberts, Marshall, Minn., Marshall High School, son of Nick and Michelle Roberts.
Lauren Van Overschelde, Mitchell, Mitchell High School, daughter of Ken and Kelsey Van Overschelde. Also awarded an extracurricular scholarship, an Alumni scholarship and a Dual Credit scholarship.

Trustee Scholarship winners: To qualify for a Trustee Scholarship, students must have at least a 3.5 GPA. The award is for $12,000 to $13,750 and is renewable for up to 10 semesters if the student remains in good standing.
Paul Cline, Box Elder, Douglas High School, son of Ken and Amanda Gettler.
Graham Huffman, Fremont, Neb., Cedar Bluffs Public School, son of Craig and Anissa Huffman. Also awarded an extracurricular scholarship and a Performing Arts scholarship.
Addison LeFebvere, Tripp, Tripp-Delmont High School, daughter of Robert and Cathy Konrad. Also awarded a Dual Credit scholarship.
Ryan Phillips, Delano, Minn., Buffalo High School, son of Michael and Meagan Phillips. Also awarded an extracurricular scholarship, a Performing Arts scholarship and a Dual Credit scholarship.
Hannah Sneller, Luverne, Minn., Luverne High School, daughter of Robert and Angela Sneller. Also awarded a Christian Leadership scholarship and a Dual Credit scholarship.
Myles Yitagesu, Sioux Falls, Washington High School, son of Mengistu and Jeannelle Yitagesu. Also awarded a Dual Credit scholarship.

Max Kinney, Ham Lake, Minn., Blaine High School, son of Mark and Jennifer Kinney. Also awarded an extracurricular scholarship and a Dual Credit scholarship.
Owen Reeves, Wausau, Wis., Newman Catholic High School, son of Jack and Jennifer Reeves. Also awarded an extracurricular scholarship and a Dual Credit scholarship.
Brayden Shivers, Bondurant, Iowa, Bondurant-Farrar Community High School, son of Andrew and Tammy Shivers. Also awarded an extracurricular scholarship, a Christian Leadership scholarship and a Dual Credit scholarship.
Joseph Svoboda, Overland Park, Kan., Blue Valley West High School, son of Anthony and Kendra Svoboda. Also awarded an extracurricular scholarship.
