Meet the Assistants

My name is Lexy Timm and I am a junior at Dakota Wesleyan. I am majoring in Elementary Education, and I absolutely love it! I am currently involved in the Future Teachers Organization. I also plan to be a part of the Human Services Club and participate in the school mentor program through Big Brothers, Big Sisters.





Hello everyone! My name is Amanda Burton, and I am a senior double majoring in Pre-Law and Criminal Justice. I am from Rapid City, South Dakota. I am the current President of Multicultural Committee. I am also involved TRiO, DWU Concert Band, and I am a New Student Orientation Leader. If you ever see me around campus, don’t be afraid to stop and say, “Hi!” I love meeting new people.




My name is Ashley Simkins. I am 20 years old and I am from Winner, South Dakota. I am a junior here at Dakota Wesleyan double majoring in Criminal Justice and Human services with a minor in Behavioral Sciences. I am involved in the Human Services Club; I am a member of TRIO and a new Peer Assistant this fall. I am excited to be a Peer Assistant this fall to help all new incoming students and to make new friends!



My name is Chelsea Raker and I'm a junior at DWU.  I grew up in Scotland, SD and graduated from high school there along with 20 other students. I grew up with my two sisters and my mom. I am a nursing major and will have a minor in behavioral sciences as well. On campus, I am a science tutor, student ambassador, and a TRiO Peer Assistant. After graduation I plan to work in a hospital around Yankton, SD and eventually plan on going to graduate school. I enjoy playing volleyball, reading books, studying, and hanging out with my friends and family! 



My name is Erica Fett. I am from Plankinton, South Dakota. I am a senior here at Dakota Wesleyan. My major is psychology and I am minoring in human services. I transferred here from the University of South Dakota in the middle of my sophomore year. I am involved in TRiO peer assistance, psychology club, I am a NSO leader and was also involved in cheerleading last year here at Dakota Wesleyan. When I graduate I plan on working in my field for a few years and then going to grad school for counseling. I enjoy meeting new people so if you see me around on campus, do not be afraid to come up and say hi!



Hello my name is Shekela Quarles. I am a senior and my major is Special Education. I transferred from a junior college in Chicago. I am constantly asked why did I come all the way to South Dakota for school and my answer is always basketball. I was recruited to go to Dakota Wesleyan University for the women's basketball team. I also found love for the track and field team. I decided to long jump for outdoor. My experience at DWU was an awesome experience and I hope that you also have a great experience.



Hi my name is Amee Patel. I am a senior here at DWU. I am majoring in human services and my minor is in psychology. I moved from New Jersey to South Dakota with my family a few years ago. This is my 2nd year as a TRiO Peer Mentor so I am very excited and look forward to meeting you.
