The Wesleyan Fund, Dakota Wesleyan University’s annual fund, is vital to the viability of DWU because it contributes to so many different areas.
Unrestricted scholarships –
As a private university, DWU receives no state or federal funding. While the cost of tuition at DWU is competitive among private colleges, it is higher than at state colleges and universities. DWU students depend upon scholarships to help bridge the gap between financial aid and tuition costs. It is imperative that we keep tuition affordable so that more students can benefit from the DWU experience.
University operations and maintenance –
We are good stewards of the buildings in our care. From the 100-year-old Hughes Science Hall to the lovely new McGovern Library, our goal is to preserve, maintain and manage our buildings and grounds with careful attention. Gifts to the annual fund help in those efforts.
Program development –
DWU continually strives to remain on the leading edge of educational practices and technology. The Learn Strong initiative is an example of a unique program offered to help students identify and develop their strengths and use them to the best possible advantage. Adopting this program has earned DWU recognition as a Strengths Leader Campus by the Gallup Organization and the Clifton Strengths Excellence Recognition Program. Currently, there are only seven national colleges and universities with this distinction. Wesleyan is also counted among the Colleges of Distinction, and the university is listed on the EntrepreneurEDU.org website for excellence in entrepreneurial education.
When you give to the Wesleyan Fund, you ensure the sustainability of DWU. Whether you give $25 or $2,000, every dollar helps to make a difference. Please help us continue to not just educate today’s youth, but to help build men and women of character who go on to be productive leaders in society.
