Monty Bohrer joined the Dakota Wesleyan faculty in the fall of 2011 as an associate professor of business administration and economics and as the director of business graduate programs. Before coming to DWU, he was an associate professor of marketing and economics at East Texas Baptist University and associate professor of marketing at University of Sioux Falls. Dr. Bohrer has significant experience in business working for such companies as GMAC, Gateway, Godfather’s Pizza, Holiday Inn, Associated Hosts, Oracle and Aramark. Along with this experience he has been a consultant to many small business owners. He has been married to his wife Kelly for more than 25 years, and they have six children and four grandchildren. His interests include golfing, bowling, softball and gardening. Academic degrees Bachelor of Arts in business administration, 1988, Concordia College; Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in management, 1999, University of Sioux Falls; Doctor of Business Administration with an emphasis in marketing, 2007, Anderson University.


Fredel Thomas Executive Director of the Kelley Center for Entrepreneurship

Fredel Thomas joined DWU in fall 2012 as the new executive director of the Kelley Center for Entrepreneurship, and she also teaches entrepreneurial leadership courses and serves as a resource for regional businesses in South Dakota. She is a Tripp native and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, with a minor in business administration. She obtained her Project Management Professional certificate in 2010. Thomas was formerly the director of product management for CHR Solutions in Mitchell, where she oversaw product planning, marketing and P&L for CHR’s managed services. Her 12 years of experience include roles in sales, quality assurance, development and project management. In her tenure at CHR Solutions, she was a telecommunications industry speaker and thought leader at multiple conferences. She is married with three children.

Dr. Ed Plastow, a 1973 DWU alumnus, returned to the university in 2012 as the dean and professor of Graduate Studies and New Ventures, and also serves as interim chairman of the DWU Department of Business. He previously was a professor of business and economics at DWU from 1988 to 1999, following 15 years in senior business, administrative and financial management and leadership positions. In 1999, Plastow left DWU to become the founding chairman of the department of business at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Fla. He served there 13 years as a professor of management and oversaw the growth from its initial seven students to what is now 500 students studying in multiple disciplines in Southeastern’s College of Business and Legal Studies. Their program development included evening, online and MBA programs. He was instrumental in SEU’s gaining of initial and recurring accreditation for its business programs from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE). Academic degrees Bachelor of Arts degree, 1973, Dakota Wesleyan University; Master of Business Administration, 1988, National University, Sacramento; Ph.D. in management/administration, 1998, Walden University, Minneapolis, Minn.; CPA licensure in South Dakota.
